About Mevagissey Shanty Festival

Founded in 2019 by Tristan Netherton of The Stuns’ls Shanty Group, Mevagissey Shanty Festival is proudly volunteer-run.

Our aim is simple: to create a truly special shanty weekend showcasing outstanding talent from Cornwall, the West Country, across Britain and beyond — while supporting our local economy during the quieter months and raising funds for projects that benefit our community.

Our Keltek Brewery main stage stands on the jetty in the harbour — the beating heart of Mevagissey. With the support of the harbour, local fishermen and generous business sponsors, we are able to keep the festival free and open to all.

Thanks to sponsorship, donations and fundraising, we have raised over £18,000 in six years for community facilities, groups and events in Mevagissey and Pentewan, including beach access improvements, local museums, Christmas lights, Feast Week and the Jubilee Hall.

Since 2022, Keltek Brewery has been our main sponsor, helping the festival grow year on year. In 2025, 92 groups — more than 670 singers aged 6 to 92 — performed over 377 hours of free concerts across 20 venues.

Our performers give their time freely, many returning each year, creating the generous, uplifting atmosphere that makes the festival so unique.
