The Tawny Shantymen hale from Pill, North Somerset, well known for its maritime and pilotage history with nearby Bristol. Singing sea shanties and other maritime based songs, the repertoire includes some original songs about the nautical history of Pill.
As all the crew are also members of the historic “Owls of Pill” carolling party and have been known to enjoy the occasional glass of port, the name had to be the Tawny Shantymen!
